Fakey Skin to Keep Your Notebook Keyboard Clean
OK, so maybe a washable mouse isn’t enough to get you the seal of approval from Good Housekeeping. That’s why you might also be interested in VisiKey VisiSkins for your notebook.
These are made out of the same material — silicone — that iPod skins come in. And when they get grubby, the idea is that you can lift it off the keyboard and wash it in soapy water. But unlike the usual keyboard covers that ensure your Slurpee won’t leak between the keys and cause an unfixable short, these have one extra feature: The letters, numbers and symbols are super-huge.
Now maybe that’s no big deal to you now, but when you get to be my age, you will consider this a boon. It means you may not have to go rummaging for your reading glasses simply to IM back to your brother for the 19th time that you will not be hosting the Super Bowl party simply because you have the new Sony Bravia to view it on.
My only wish: that they came in cooler colors than black or white. (They do that for high contrast readability.) VisiSkins are available for Macs, Dells, Compaqs and HPs and cost $24.99.
