PS3 motion sensor dev kits already in developer hands

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Sony’s Peter Dille revealed that their motion sensing development kit has already been sent out to multiple developers, all of which are eager to start working with the new technology. Though we were led to believe during the E3 demonstration that the product is still in the early research and development phase, it’s now evident that the product is closer to being finished than we had previously thought. Frankly, the quality of their motion capture devices seemed to trump that of the Nintendo Wii, though–with the price tag attached to the Playstation hardware itself–one would have a hard time believing that Sony could have a chance to damage Nintendo’s leading market figures.
It still appears to be a ways off, and from the looks of things we should be seeing the other products hit the market long before Sony gets in the game. Expect to see the Wii MotionPlus released first, followed shortly by Project Natal, with Sony’s product hitting the market soon after that. No word yet on which developers have their hands on the technology itself, but I’d venture to guess that Sony has given first party studios a head start. Also, Sony, incase you’re reading this, give your product a name already–thanks.
