Chicago Metallic Lift and Serve Bakeware

lift-and-serve.jpgRegular readers have probably guessed that I’ve added Chicago Metallic Lift and Serve Bakeware to my every growing wish list… especially the pan pictured, here. (The singles square pan.)

Cheesecake lovers, take note. There is also a round Metallic Lift and Serve available, PERFECT for yummy mini bites of cheesy sweet goodness. Bring on the blueberries!

Both of these pieces of bakeware will work for SO many things. However, it is recommended that you forego recipes which incorporate of some type of thin batter, because there is a chance of leakage via the removable bottoms.

The singles square pan has one dozen individual baking cups. The edge of each is fluted, lending a fancier presentation to your finished baked goods. These pans are constructed of heavy metal and are made to withstand years of serious baking.

Whether you are making quiche, cheesecakes, bar cookies, hors d’oeuvres or even itty bitty meatloaves… using this bakeware will make it that much easier.

Because the surface is non-stick, there is no need to oil these pans. This will cut down just a tad, when it comes the calories that you will be consuming. Every little bit helps, right?

The square Metallic Lift and Serve includes a recipe for quiche, to get you started.

Cast Iron Bread Pan

bread_pan.jpgRecently, I have been considering the purchase of a Cast Iron Bread Pan. My grandma, one of the best baker’s who ever lived, swore by her ancient set of cast iron cookware. She still preferred it, even after my Uncle bought her a much more expensive set.

My husband just asked me why I would bother ordering one since I bake our bread in my Zojirushi. In case you’re wondering the same thing, let me explain. I LOVE my Zo, but cast iron is wonderful when it comes to even browning.

Bread machine aside, if you make a lot of banana (or other types of quick) bread… this is the pan you want to use. It will turn out golden brown on the outside and moist on the inside every time. Zucchini bread, anyone?

Cast iron cookware will last forever as long as it is properly cared for. Something that is really quite simple to do. Just season it will oil periodically and you’ll be good to go.

Although cast iron is known to be heavy, the bread pan pictured has extended handles, for ease of lifting.

If you own a cast iron bread pan, I’d love to hear what you think of it. I’ve added it to my wish list and will be purchasing it, after the holiday.

Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan

cupcake_pan.jpgIf you REALLY love a good cupcake, the Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan is a product worth your consideration. In my opinion, the creative folks at Wilton come up with some of the neatest ideas and this piece of bakeware is certainly no exception. Can you say 3D cupcake?

First, you bake the top and bottom of the cake in this two cavity pan. It has a total capacity of 10 cups and produces a cupcake measuring almost 8 inches by 8 inches in size.

It has been suggested that since the top piece bakes faster than the bottom, it’s best to position the bottom half toward the back of your oven. It has also been suggested that it is much easier to decorate the entire cake when you decorate the bottom before putting the top in place.

If you will be using a boxed mix to create your masterpiece, you can easily jazz it up by adding ingredients to the batter, right before transferring it to the pan.

You can use almost anything you like… marshmallows, chocolate chips, sprinkles, dried fruit bits or your favorite candy. You are only limited by your imagination and what you have in your pantry.

Nifty Oven Rack

oven_companion.jpgIf you do a lot of baking, have I got an oven rack for you… the Nifty Oven Rack, that is! It’s actually a 3-tier rack that can withstand the weight of three heavy casserole dishes with ease. I can already envision it in my oven, next Thanksgiving.

As you can see in the photo, you still have room for a large size roasting pan when using the Nifty Rack. That means… turkey, green bean casserole, candied yams, my hubby’s delicious stuffed peppers and homemade rolls. Ok, everybody say ‘YUM’!

It seems to me that this rack could also be used to bake cookies, provided that your baking sheets are the right size. This could end up to be a huge time saver if you have been recruited to bake a zillion cookies, for your child’s next school-sponsored bake sale.

I think the Nifty Rack would also work as a plate warmer, if you happen to be entertaining. Martha Stewart would be proud and your guests will be appreciative.

It folds flat, for easy and convenient storage. It’s easy to assemble as well as dishwasher safe. Since this rack is constructed of nickel chrome plated steel, it is durable enough to last a lifetime.

Stadium Bundt Cake Pan

stadium_pan.jpgI feel I can, from the safety of my own home office, admit to the fact that I’m NOT a big football enthusiast. (Please, no hate email.)

Because of this, there will be no humongous Super Bowl party at the Strong house this year.

But, I AM thinking about picking up this groovy cake pan and creating a mini stadium, for the occasion. It will be interesting to find out how well cake goes with pizza and beer. (I’ll eat the pizza and leave the beer for my dear hubby!)

This Stadium Bundt Cake Pan is manufactured by none other than Nordic Ware. I may have mentioned this before… I absolutely LOVE Nordic Ware pans! I would honestly own more of them, if I had the storage space.

The intricate details of a cake baked in this pan are sure to please any football lover. This is a baking project that you can really get creative with.

The stadium pan measures 9-1/2 x 12 and is non-stick for easy cleanup. It has a ten cup capacity. (When reading the reviews on this product, a few folks suggested that you use a bit less than an entire boxed mix. This will prevent the cake from escaping from the pan, while baking.)

Are you ready for some football… cake?

Silicone Baking Cups

silicone_baking_cups.jpgI am ashamed to say that I don’t have a whole lot of experience with silicone bakeware. But, in view of the fact that I recently wrote about the cookbook ‘Hello Cupcake!’, I thought it might be a good time to mention this nifty Kaiser Bakeware Silicone Baking Cup Set. It seems to me that they go hand in hand.

This particular offering is a set of six. So, if you do a lot of baking I suggest that you purchase three sets, which is my personal game plan.

Aside from being incredibly non-stick, one of the things I think is so cool about these is the fact that you don’t need to use a muffin pan unless you REALLY want to.

Silicone bakeware, of any type, does not absorb food odors (such as fruit juices). Whether you prefer baking cupcakes of muffins, each of these baking cups can be used 1000 times. That translates into a mountain of baked goods, doesn’t it?

Telling you they are unbreakable is probably obvious. These baking cups are heat resistant to 500 degrees and cold resistant to -40 degrees. They are dishwasher safe and take up very little storage space… you can stack them inside each other.

What is your opinion of silicone bakeware? Feel free to share your experience with all of us.

Sante Cabin Muffin Topper Pan

muffin_topper_pan.jpgI scream, you scream, we all scream for… ice cream muffins.  I don’t know about you but I happen to love muffins, especially on a cold winter morning. Because you can make them a million different ways, they are an extremely versatile treat.

I was thrilled to come across this Sante Cabin Muffin Topper Pan. It is the perfect gift for the ‘muffin top lover’ in your life. This cast iron pan produces 6 big, yummy, muffin tops. (We all know that’s the best part, right?)

It comes pre-seasoned, which I think is a pretty nifty feature. It’s basically ready to use right out of the box. (Think Christmas morning muffins.) For those of you who may not be aware, cast iron is great to bake in. It almost guarantees that you will get a perfect, golden, muffin or other type of baked good every time.

Muffins freeze well. You can store batter in the refrigerator for up to two days. So, you never really have to be without them. (I always mix up a double or triple batch and freeze the extras. Wrap individually and pull out just what is needed.)

What is your all time favorite muffin recipe? Please consider sharing it with all of us. Our muffin pans are waiting!

Monkey Bread Baking Mold

monkey_bread_mold1.jpgIf you are a fan of monkey bread (and who isn’t?) have I got a baking mold for you! This groovy little piece of bakeware looks a whole lot like a Bundt pan… only taller.

It’s crafted of stoneware and has a 2 quart capacity. The Monkey Bread Baking Mold is both scratch and stick resistant, which means easy clean up.

If you do a recipe search, you will find many variations of this yummy bread. It’s been around for awhile… and still a fun dessert for the younger crowd to prepare (with the help of Mom or Dad, of course).

The following recipe calls for the use of a traditional Bundt pan, but I have no doubt that it would work with the mold, as well.

Ingredients include: frozen cinnamon rolls, caramel topping, butter and pecans. YUM! So it’s much quicker to whip up than the original recipe. (It will take a bit longer, though, if you use rolls that require time to rise.)

If you decide to try this recipe, before I have the chance, please come back and post your review for all of us.

I really think it would make a good ‘take-along’ dish for your next holiday party. Don’t you?

Upright Chicken Cooker

chicken_cooker.jpgWith the Upright Chicken Cooker, you can make ‘beer can’ chicken without a barbeque grill OR can. You don’t even need the beer! (There are other ingredients you can use in its place to make your bird just as tasty.)

As you might have already guessed, this cooker WAS inspired by the first beer can chicken recipe. It can be used year round and is microwave and dishwasher safe.

Personally, I think I’d opt for oven baking, when using this dish. I like my chicken skin a bit on the crispy side and yes… before I get a ton of emails; I know the skin isn’t good for me. Of course, it’s up to you to decide.

The dish has a well in the center, where you conveniently place whatever marinade, herbs and spices you will be using to jazz up your chicken. The cooker is deep enough to use when baking a number of side dishes, as well.

(Depending on the size of your bird, you could probably get away with baking both at once.)

If you have used a similar type of baking dish, what do you think of it? We’re dying to know how the chicken actually turned out.

11 x 7 Inch Precut Brownie Pan Set

brownie_pan.jpgI already own an Edge Brownie Pan and am very impressed with it. But, I must say that I’m intrigued with this particular pan, as well.

Technically speaking is just a different kind of ‘edge pan’, which would certainly come in handy during the upcoming holiday baking season.

This particular piece of bakeware is the 11 x 7 Inch Precut Brownie Pan Set, my Slice Solutions. It includes: brownie base with removable center, cutting grid and lifting rack.

It allows you to make 18 brownies, bar type cookies, quick breads and even Rice Krispies treats, all of equal size, with just a pop of the pan. (I’m thinking you might even be brave enough to try baking something like macaroni and cheese, in the pan, depending on the durability of the cutting grid.)

I think one of the neatest things about this pan is that you can make a variety of different brownies, at the same time. You can easily add-in extras like candy bar pieces, mint chips, M & M’s, nuts and caramel chunks, to each separate square.

The pan is non-stick and dishwasher safe, which makes clean up a breeze. If you LOVE brownies, this nifty pan is definitely for you.
