The Sky’s the Limit
One of the upcoming fall season’s hottest colors is not a particularly wintery color. It is pale, has no edge to it whatsoever, and is most often seen in a. an Easter basket, b. a baby boy’s bedroom, or c. a Disney movie. Yes, baby blue might never be described with any adjective more compelling than ‘”cute”. And yet, it’s all over the runways, from commercially-charged red carpet powerhouses like Elie Saab to editorial visionaries like Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton (above). A small sample?

Sky blue may feel stale for spring, but it’s oh-so-fresh and new for fall. It’s natural, calming, innocent, and charming, and so it seems it’s long overdue to have its moment as an ‘it’ color. It’s not too loud or too quiet - it’s a shade that stands out in a crowd, but never in the wrong way. And it’s somehow both whimsical and transformative - to go back to those Disney movies, just look at Cinderella’s ball gown or the pinafore of Alice in Wonderland.
You don’t have to wait until fall to work this hue into your wardrobe, though. For now, try these pieces by Geren Ford, Madison Marcus, and Rachel Pally.
