A Beauty Tip…

I recently gave up my blond highlights and had my hair dyed back to my natural medium brown color. I am incredibly lazy when it comes to getting my hair done and have been known to literally go six months without a haircut. While I can pull off the Kate Moss bedhead look that half a year without a trim gives my hair, the grown-out roots were another story. I have also been yearning for the chic, put-together look an all over color can give your hair. Images like these of Bette Frank and Daria Werbowy were my inspiration:

Unfortunately for my newly brunette locks, my summertime routine isn’t exactly easy on a dye job. My hair didn’t make it one weekend before being subjected to both ocean and pool water. That behavior, coupled with the years of bleach the ends of my hair have seen, was causing my brown to look a little, well, green. Luckily, Artec makes a great product that I have used for years, both as a blond and a brunette. They have a line of shampoo and conditioners that deposit color into your hair when you wash. They have a White Violet color that will take the brassiness out of blond as well as a range of colors for brunettes and red-heads. I just bought a new shampoo this weekend and am so excited to be able to prolong the life of my latest dye job. Maybe I can stretch it to eight months before I find myself at the hair salon. Kidding. Kinda…

Even if you don’t color your hair, these products are a great way to add a little richness to your color or switch up your highlights a bit without a major commitment. If you are a medium golden brown like me, I would suggest the Walnut color:
