Mascara: Totally Tubular
I came across a post on ELLE’s fashion blog that reminded me of my posts regarding purple makeup and my recent preoccupation with all things eyelashes. The post was about tubing mascara, which I have never heard of before. I’m apparently out of the beauty loop. Accoring to ELLE, tubing mascara goes on slightly wetter than regular versions; when it dries, the lacquer shrink-wraps around each lash, giving 360-degree coverage. As more of the polymer is brushed on, the tube builds up and out, like the structure of an icicle or a stalactite, adding millimeters to even the shortest of hairs. Normal sweat or tears won’t make it run and the mascara doesn’t smudge, which is great for me because I rub my eyes constantly. The mascara has been on the market for years, but hasn’t really caught on, perhaps because the “tubes” fall off your eyelashes when you wash your face (which is a little off-putting), the fact that the mascara is better at lengthening than plumping, and that it has only been available in basic black and brown. Now Blinc is offering tubing mascara that plumps and lengthens- their tubing primers provide a creamy base coat of moisturizing ceramides and panthenol plus thickening pigments. Better yet, the line is available in colors such as dark blue, dark green and, our favorite for spring- purple.
