September is National Baby Safety Month - Add A Gate To Your Fireplace
I know, it’s still summer but it won’t be long before that nip is in the air. So it’s time to start thinking about cold weather safety for your familyWinter poses its own set of problems for parents of new babies and toddlers. While you may have already installed cabinet locks, padded sharp corners and moved breakables to higher shelves, on those cold winter nights your fireplace or wood burning stove can become a new hazard.
Toddlers and younger children tend to be fascinated around fireplaces. Hey, it’s almost as cool as an electronic baby toy with colorful lights and neat sounding crackles and pops! Preschoolers and older children though often still fascinated by fire can tend to ignore the um…caution one needs to display around the source.
This neat Fireplace Hearth Baby Gate can certainly relieve some of your fears. (If didn’t have them before…aren’t you glad I brought this up?) This flexible system fits both large and smaller fireplaces and can be set in a straight line or angled to fit your fireplace. There are a few add-ons like gates and step plates to avoid trips, but the basic system solves the biggest scare – kids falling into the fire.
I’m excited to get the “relaxing” part back into sitting in front of the fireplace!
