This is just so cute I had to laugh when I saw it. If you read this blog, you know I’m a big fan of costumes. Just about any occasion is perfect for a costume is my motto. And birthday parties are an occasion for being silly and having fun. It fits right in!

So this “Fun-to-be-One” hat is a great way to celebrate a first birthday. Now, even though we don’t always admit it, first birthday parties are for the parents and other adults involved. Sure, you can invite a kid or too, but really, your child is never going to remember it, so focus the first birthday party around you having fun and not tiring your child out!

My perfect 1^st birthday party starts after nap time. The birthday child runs around a bit pops on the birthday hat, blows out the candle and gets a bath and goes to bed. Then the fun starts.

Adults enjoy a bit of socializing. After the guest go home you sort through the presents, quietly deciding which will be kept, which will be re-gifted and which are just too horrendous and must be returned to the store. All guests will, of course receive a Thank-You note as the effort put into selecting a gift is appreciated, if not the gift itself.
