My “Under The Nile” Faves
I promised some more amazing baby items from this smart and savvy mom, and you won’t be disappointed. Keep in mind the price point for organic cotton is high, except in this case.
Under The Nile uses only the finest Egyptian Cotton, yet their prices are competitive with what you would find in your local department store and in some cases, better. Plus, you won’t find this brand just anywhere. I was so pleased to come across them and I know you will be too.
Organic Cotton Trouser: Incredibly soft against baby’ skin. The vibrant color made from all natural vegetable dye adds to the incredible look of these inexpensive little pants.
Organic Cotton Long Sleeve Lap Shoulder Tee: Pair these with the softest trousers ever and you have a simple little outfit that looks great and washes well. With a roomy shoulder opening, this no fuss top matches everything in baby’s wardrobe. Best to pick up a few.
Organic Cotton Terry Romper: Get them dressed quickly and effortlessly with this one-piece romper from Under The Nile. Also available in blue, this outfit dries quickly (on a hot summer day!) thanks to its cool and comfy terry lining.
Organic Cotton Loungewear: How cute is this? We were lucky they even made bathrobes when I was a kid! This is perfect for those fall evening walks in a stroller or last minute summer dips in the pool. They’ll be warm and cozy with the attached hood. Perfect after-bath attire, too
This is just a sampling of some of my favorites that Under The Nile has to offer, but check out the complete collection on Pricegrabber.

Beach Towel In A Bag
I live in a place that is warm and sunny most of the year so beach towels are a staple in my household.
Still, every June I get excited to replace last years sun bleached models for some fresh new ones. That means I usually have to replace about four, as nearly all of them my son and his friends left at the beach, pool or some motel we stayed at.
I’ve observed that most kids don’t mind carrying them to the beach pool etc… It’s the start of an exciting day. Coming home is another story. It’s like dragging a sled to the top of a snow covered hill then whizzing down it, and after six or seven times, no one wants to drag the sled back up the hill.
Same principle.
A cleaver solution to this problem is The Beach Towel Bag By Confetti. This standard size towel, which measures 30 by 60 when open, converts to a cool messenger bag they can wear across their body when it’s time to leave. The fashionable zip around design makes it easier for them to carry the towel home at the end of the day and the novel idea of it will help them remember to bring it home. (Hopefully)
It comes in a couple of different colorful designs, and even has a cute little key chain attached. (Think motel key!)

California Baby For Swimmers
When I was growing up I was a swimmer. Luckily, I was of the dirty blond persuasion, so my hair never produced the lovely green tint that my white blond sisters suffered every time they emerged from a seriously chlorinated pool.
There were not a whole lot of solutions to get rid or it, so they just kind of stayed that way until Labor Day till it gracefully faded away like a (bad) summer memory.
Fortunately there are products in the marketplace now to correct that beauty problem and one of the best is California Baby Swimmers Defense Shampoo.
It’s made with all natural ingredient including extracts of palm and coconut oil and uses no synthetics, which can dry and irritate skin. Of course it’s tear free, too.
Use it immediately after swimming and this PH rebalanced shampoo will gently moisturize the hair while washing away any traces of chlorine which, when mixed with trace concentrations of copper can turn hair color green.
Use it as a body wash and they’ll smell like summer all year long. I like the fact that I can use it too. (Safe for color treated hair).
Pick up California Baby Swimmers Defense Conditioner with a built in sunscreen for the smoothest summer yet.

Safe And Natural Baby Wash by Weleda
Many parents can get by with running to the drugstore and picking up the most popular baby brand or even using the family soap on the new arrival’s skin. More and more though, we don’t. Between rashes and allergies and scary stories about toxins in just about everything, more of us look for natural baby products to use on baby’s delicate epidermis.
Fortunately we have a lot of choices these days. Weleda Baby Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash is one that I have used on my son. Weleda is a long time leader in natural care and uses natural, vegetable based, not detergent based cleaners, perfect for sensitive skin. I like the Biodynamic® Calendula flower extract and the soft scent that allows that sweet smell of just cleaned baby to waft through.
Face it’s not long before that sweet smell is replaced with the sour smell of bodily fluids- so enjoy it while you can!

Summer Infant Newborn to Toddler Bath Center and Shower
Face it. It’s tough to bathe an infant. It doesn’t actually get much easier until a child can sit up and safely get out of the bath tub on his or her own. Even then we worry about accidental drowning until age…oh 18?
Seriously though, it’s difficult to bathe an infant or toddler in an adult size bathtub and infant bath tubs only last so long. This Summer Infant Newborn to Toddler Bath Center seems to solve many of the problems we parents have bathing our little one.
There are lots of cool features to this set. Since this tub grows with your child, it can easily be used from infancy through the toddler years. The soft foam pad at the bottom is perfect for keeping baby from slipping out of your hands and under water – something that tends to happen with alarming frequency minus some sort of non slip surface.
I particularly like the infant sling – the flexible slanted piece that baby lies on. This, I have found makes washing so much easier as you don’t need one hand just to hold baby steady. And the shower attachment is perfect! I’ve struggled often with rinsing and usually settled on a bucket of water. This electric shower though had just the right strength for a small child. No more struggles turning off the shower massage adults like so much and turning down the water pressure!

Corn Husker Lotion
Here’s a secret! This little bottle with the funny label is awesome. It’s gotten me through many a winter when my hands have suffered from dryness. O.K. at one time they called it “dishpan hands”. But these days, the more correct term most likely has something to do with managing a household, which, of course, we all do.
Between baths and laundry and those ever present dishes, plus playing outside with the kids and just generally living life, hands can get pretty dry. And Corn husker’s lotion is one of the best kept secrets for keeping them moist.
Cornhusker’s Lotion has been around a long time. It was developed in the early part of last century for, of course those who husked corn. I was introduced to it awhile back by a dentist, you know, those folks who wash their hands 20 times per day? Now I swear by it.
As a parent, especially of a young child, you know that tender young skin seems to get scratched and bruised easily and complaints of scratchy hands abound. This is one way to keep hands soft and smooth for both you and your children. And, of course, for any significant other too!

Tadpoles Organic Cotton Hooded Towel and Mitt
If you’re looking for a gift for a new baby and are shying away from the traditional blue and pink, here’s one to consider. It seems to me that many parents today are moving away from the traditional to accessorize their children’s gear in colors that are, well, more practical and more stylish. I of course, ever on the look out for gear that will last beyond a few months, have always been a fan of this approach.
If you’re also buying for a new mom interested in going green and equipping her child with organic and natural materials, then this Tadpole Organic Hooded Towel and Mitt Set will meet that need too! Made from soft, 100% organic cotton, this comfy towel set is perfect for a tender newborn’s skin. Large enough to wrap baby up tight, the towel has a hood to keep a tiny head warm and the soft mitt is perfect for bathing a slippery baby.
I like the mitten mitt offered with this set as often mitts without a slot for our opposable thumbs, slips off mid wash and ends up sloshing around in the tub rather than firmly attached to an adult hand!
Include a bottle of California Baby, Baby Wash for the perfect bath time gift.
