Flagstone Makes a Beautiful Patio
The great thing about a flagstone pathway is that it is timeless. It will never go out of date and will match almost any architecture and stone will outlast brick, tile or any other patio stones. In addition, it is as easy to install as laying tile.
Because of its random shapes flagstone can produce some dramatic geometric designs with natural color effects. Some products, like MS International Santa Barbara Gold Meshed Flagstone, are pieces of slate glued to mesh matting for ease of installation. It can be adhered to an old sidewalk or patio, orembeeded in a freshly-poured surface.
Flagstones come in many colors and designs: flagstone, irregular flagstone, field stone, and cut stone. The patio flagstone is usually cut into slabs half-inch thick and in pieces up to two-feet, 9-inches. Each package of flagstones is sorted so that with each homeowner will get the best coloring for his or her patio.
MS International Santa Barbara Gold Meshed Flagstone comes in crates containing 78 pieces that will cover 214 square feet. The crates weight upward of 1,100 pounds and the pieces are carefully wrapped for minimum breakage.
The installation of flagstone can be a do-it-yourself project if the proper preparations are observed. The project should be drawn to scale on graph paper to calculate the exact amount of flagstone needed. Always order 10% more than needed for the unexpected accidents. The extra pieces can always be used elsewhere.
