Easter Wine

1029895x.jpgFor many of us, Easter means a feast of fresh spring vegetables, ham or lamb, peas and carrots salad, and a wide range of delicious confections from sugar cookies to raspberry sherbert.  Nothing goes better with such a sweet meal than a great bottle of wine. The traditional pairing of roast ham with Riesling is almost mandatory on many Easter tables, while those partial to lamb love a Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir or any good Red Bordeaux. All show well with lamb.

With such a sweet meal, especially if the main meat dish has a saccharine glaze of apricot or honey, choose a slightly dry red varietal. These wines have just enough acidity to clear the palate, while maintaining a hint of fresh fruit. All in all, the perfect complement to such a celebratory meal.
