I know you might not think of this as a necessary piece of technology to toss in your bag on your way out the door. But, for many the Nintendo DS is becoming as much a part of their daily routine as their cellphone or blackberry. Think about your long boring ride to work on the bus or train. The last time I was on the bus and I pulled out my crochet bag, people gave me funny looks. The DS looks a lot like a palm pilot, so you don’t get those weird people asking you what you’re doing. And it takes up a lot less room than a novel or a craft project. Even Nicole Kidman plays Brain Age on Nintendo DS!

Of course the Nintendo DS Lite comes in quite a few colors and there are plenty of games out there to pick from, including the popular Brain Age game inspired by the work of prominent Japanese neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima.
