Crocs … for your cellphone?

cell phone holder by CrocsI saw something so odd this week that I just had to stop and think about what I was seeing. A cell phone case that looks like Crocs shoes. You know Crocs, those rubber shoes with the holes in the top that everyone is going ga-ga over, but that look really weird on everyone’s feet. Yes, those Crocs.

You can even put the little clip on rubber charms on them. I’m not really sure what the purpose of these unusual looking cases is, except to show off your obsession with the odd looking little shoes. It doesn’t really secure your phone, so it could still fall out and crash onto the pavement. I’ve also seen a few pictures of them being used to hold the larger style iPods, and I wonder the same thing. I know if I’m using a case I want it to be protective of my gadgets, and hopefully look good while doing so.

Cute and Fun Earphones MUZX

Butterfly Earphones MUZXI’m sure you’ve noticed that I love the MP3 player accessories. But, earphones and headphones aren’t just for music listening. I carry a set with my laptop for those instances where I need sound while I’m working. I don’t want to disturb everyone in the bookstore when I open a sound filled file. Earphones are great for Gameboys, DS Lites, and PSPs too.

I personally prefer the over the ear kind myself, but if you’re going with an earbud why not do it in style? These little beauties from Altec Lansing look great in your ears and sitting on your desk. Adorned with a Swarovski jeweled butterfly on each ear piece these rank pretty high on the cute-o-meter. And coming from AL I’m sure the sound quality is just as good as they are pretty.

Cameras from GE? Yeah, that GE.

ge digital cameraI was surprised to see that General Electric, the company well known for just about everything else … released a digital camera. Of course GE always does a good job of combining the greatest features available on the market they are seeking to conquer, and the digital camera world is no exception. This little picture snapper has image stabilization, red eye reducer, and face detection.

All my favorite camera features, and it even has smile detection and blink detection. Now, those are two new features I’ve never seen before. These new and interesting features are supposed to help you snap the picture at just the precise moment when it’s best and everyone has their open and their smiles bright. Smile detection detects when the folks in your pictures are smiling and captures the photo at that point. Blink detection lets your know if anyone is blinking, immediately after the photo is captured and then allowing the photo to be retaken.

Just another step toward point and shoot perfect pictures!

Pelican i1010 iPOD Case

pelican ipod casesThese cute and rugged iPod cases are both water proof and crushproof, making them one of the most protective iPod cases you can get. And with a big variety of colors you can keep your iPod safe and still look cute with a black, yellow, white, blue, silver, pink or green case.

The active sport tie down strap is great for attaching to your bag or for when you’re out jogging or even hiking. If you’re clumsy like me, it’s good to know that your iPod is safe and secure and even if it does fall or get dropped it is still protected inside the Pelican. Your earphones can be stored inside the case when you’re not listening, and connected through the outside when you want to listen. This is a great feature so that you can listen to your iPod and still keep it within the waterproof case when you’re at the side of the beach or pool.

Fuzzy Speaker Pillow for Your iPod or MP3 player

speakerpillow.jpgThis cute fuzzy pillow will work for anything that has a headphone jack on it. You can hook up your iPod, MP3 player, CD player, even your portable radio or portable television if you wanted.

These audio pillows are great for lounging around in the evening. You don’t always want to have headphones or ear buds on while you’re at home, but you also don’t want to disturb the whole house with what you’re playing either. A fun little pillow solves that problem, and it looks pretty cute sitting on the futon or your bed too.

The Jawbone

jawbone3color.jpg
I wouldn’t be a very good Tech Style writer if I didn’t talk about the Jawbone. Everyone seems to be raving about it lately. It’s been on tech and gadget blogs across the internet.

This bluetooth headset has approximately 6 Hours of talk time and somewhere around 200 hours standby time before needing charged again. You can choose black, silver, and oh look, there is this year’s most popular tech accessory color …. red.

This bluetooth headset has been so well received and attracted so much attention that it was even featured in an exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Now that is very cool for a piece of technology.

But, I’ll be honest with you. What really gets my attention with the Jawbone isn’t it’s unique style and appearance. It’s the sound quality. If you’ve ever used a bluetooth headset in a busy store on a Saturday afternoon you know that not all headsets are created equally. The Jawbone’s Noise Shield technology uses an advanced, military-grade noise-canceling system that continuously adapts to the users’ changing environment to deliver and receive unparalleled Audio quality.

How many of your other gadgets have the power to adapt to your environment? That’s just awesome. This way you and the person on the other end of your call aren’t shouting at each other so loudly that the person three aisles over in the housewares section can hear both sides of your conversation. Believe me, your fellow shoppers will appreciate that you look great and that you’re not taking over the shopping aisles with your conversation.

Solar Powered Outdoor Wireless Speaker

solarspeaker.jpgSummertime is in full swing. School is out and vacations have begun. When I was teenager I used to grab my big bulky boombox off the top of my dresser, an extension cord and run that big thing out onto the roof outside my room so I could enjoy the tunes outside in the afternoon.

Not only are big bulky boomboxes a thing of the past, but you no longer need those long extension cords if you want to take your tunes outside while you’re hanging in the yard.

You can grab a wireless outdoor speaker powered by the strongest battery on the planet, the sun. This great gadget is powered by the sun’s energy with a handy solar panel. Add your iPod / MP3 player and you’re set for the whole day.

Sony Mylo 2

This amazing little gizmo is more than just your PDA. The Mylo 2 includes an onboard 1.3-megapixel camera, AIM integration, widget support, and direct downloads and/or uploads. Wi-Fi powered so there are no monthly bills to worry about when you’re using the Mylo. Just hit your favorite hot spot, or even from the comforts of your home wireless connection.

sonymylo.jpg

Keep in mind this is for those of us that are keeping it simple. If you need more connectivity and more advanced features than you want to look into a smartphone that uses bluetooth and cellular technology. The Sony Mylo is for quick connections and keeping yourself organized. You can browse the web as long as you’re near a Wi-Fi spot. The 3.5-inch LCD touch screen and QWERTY full keyboard make everything a breeze, and the 1 GB storage keeps what you need while you’re on the go.

And if the shiny and black and white look isn’t your style you can always grab faceplate packs in Rose & Olive or Sapphire & Platinum. I recommend the Rose & Olive faceplate pack myself.

Nike + iPod = Happy Workout

sportipodkit.jpgThis little Nike+iPod setup makes a great workout companion for those early morning runs all alone. The workout screen on your Nano will tell you how far you went, and what a great job and how long it’s taken you to get there in addition to the usual song title and band name display.

A little voice will poke through your music and tell you when you’re just about to your goal. A whisper in your ear to push you to that final destination (100 meters to go) and then right back to your favorite tunes for workout motivation.

You’ll be able to track distance, time, pace and calories burned. You can also set up PowerSongs access the tunes that get you pumped instantly. It’s everything you need to manage your workout AND enjoy it more.

This fun little combo has one major downside. The pedometer battery is not replaceable, so eventually you have to buy a whole new kit if the battery goes kaput. Unless you know a battery genius that knows how to work some chargeable magic on it, then you might be okay.

Nascar Laptop Skin for Father’s Day

kurtlaptop.jpgBuying gifts for Father’s Day can be tough, and if you’re like me and forgot until just now then you might be wondering what to look for when you go rushing about shopping like a mad woman.

I came across these Nascar Laptop skins and thought they were just perfect for my husband for Dad’s big day! You can tell by my choice that hub’s is a Kurt Busch fan, and the little men in the household follow suit so everyone agreed that this would be a great gift for dad this year. Whew, crisis averted.

There are other drivers and cool Nascar gadget gear to be had too. The sport has really come along in the past few years and the marketing department has their thinking caps on for sure.

Whatever you get dad this year, have a great Father’s Day weekend.
