Give Your Cell Phone a Facelift with a Faceplate

Cellphones come in a much bigger selection of styles and colors than before, but sometimes you just need that little extra. One of the things you can do to jazz up your cell phone to match your unique style is to add a faceplate. It’s quick, easy, painless and inexpensive to do.

Most faceplates just snap on, so you can actually grab a few and change them around now and then to match your mood, or your wardrobe, for the day! A lot of the more popular cellphones will have more faceplate choices for you too. I found a lot Motorola V3 Faceplates in particular. These just pop right on and cost about 10 dollars or less on average.

And those were just a few of the fun cell phone faceplates that I found. I think I’m actually going to get the paw print one for my mom as a gift, she is obsessed with her doggies and I think she’ll like it. Her Razr is pink, but she was complaining that just about everyone she works with has a pink cell phone too, so it’s not really that unique. Set it down on a table next to someone else’s phone and it’s just a phone mix-up waiting to happen. She does have a cute little cell phone charm, but those are a topic for another day. Maybe tomorrow we’ll get into charms and cell phone bling!

Weather Resistant Outdoor Tiki Speakers

Enjoy the last days of summer listening to your favorite tunes pool side with these adorable TikiToonz water resistant speakers. These little Polynesian inspired speakers might be weather proof, but you don’t want to go tossing them into the pool, so they come with a pair of steel brackets so you can mount them just about anywhere, or you can leave them sitting on a table near the grill. Whatever works best for your outdoor comfort zone.

Of course you don’t have to use the Tiki Speakers outside, they’d be just as much fun indoors, perhaps they’ll look great in your dining room or living room with other ethnic accents. Wherever you decide to use them, they are sure to share a smile with everyone in the room. Speakers don’t have to be boring black boxes sitting on the shelf!

Is Your Laptop Bag Travel Friendly?

sunday's bag

I’m getting ready to go on a trip with my kids, and one of the things I needed was a new laptop bag. Fortunately, we’re traveling by train and not plane for this particular trip. I forgot all about the airlines checking laptop bags more and more and my new bag isn’t exactly as air travel friendly as it could be.

The good news is that later this month travelers will get a little bit of relief as the airlines try to make things easier for laptop carriers. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has released guidelines for checkpoint friendly bags, and manufacturers have responded with some great results! Expect to see some of these new bag designs in future Sunday’s Bag posts, of course.

purple laptop sleeve with flowerTSA said some current bags on the market meet its criteria, particularly sleeve-like carrying cases without pockets or zippers. Some new products meeting their specific checkpoint criteria will be available by the middle of the month, the agency has said.

You can get a laptop carrying sleeve just about anywhere, and in a huge variety of colors and styles. Unfortunately, they don’t have any pockets for other things and are usually intended as an added line of protection for your laptop to be placed inside of another bag.

Even with a bag that meets the TSA’s guidelines, however, nothing is guaranteed. At the bottom of an informational page on the TSA site, it reveals the fine print: “Given TSA’s use of random screening protocols, TSA reserves the right to re-screen any bag or laptop regardless of the design of the bag.”

Dual iPod Docks with the JVC Portable Audio System for iPod

dual ipod dock JVC Portable Audio System for iPodThe JVC NX-PN7 Dual iPod Dock accommodates two iPod players side-by side, charging them simultaneously and offering playback from each through the dock’s speakers. The perfect his and hers iPod setup. We’re always taking turns charging the iPods in our house. We actually have 4 iPods that need charging if we include the kids too.

What’s really great about this particular dual dock is that you can playback on the speakers from either iPod! This feature is great if you like to listen to music around the house without your headphones. After all who wants to walk around at home with headphones on all day? And being able to choose music from either iPod is especially nice since we all have different song selections and audio books on ours.

If you’re not in the mood to listen to your iPod, this audio system also features a AM/FM radio tuner so you can pick up your favorite local radio station and listen in that way. The easy to use remote makes it easy to change the station or the song from across the room. And on top of all the dual goodness this system has to offer you, it is iPhone compatible as well. It comes very close to being the perfect docking station.

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal RemoteThis is not your ordinary universal remote. This is the Queen of remote controls and controls up to 15 different devices in your home. I don’t think I even have that many things that are remote controlled right now in my home.

Instead of sifting a list of number and letter combination codes to try to get your universal remote working, this remote comes with it’s own software that you run on your computer (works on PC or MAC!) This amazing little bit of software will configure the remote control for you, and this smart little number can actually learn from the remotes that are already cluttering up your coffee table.

In addition to smart configuration, this remote is so smart you can tell it which TV channels are your favorite and it will remember. It’s like speed dial for channel surfers. Just remember to put it in the recharge cradle every night for fresh surfing in the morning. A hard working remote needs a good night’s rest too.

If you’re like me and tend to watch TV late at night, in the dark, the Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote is backlit for easy button finding. And the full-color touch screen literally leaves everything at the touch of your fingertip.

If all that isn’t enough this remote has actually received the CES 2008 Design and Engineering Award: Best of Innovations in Home-Entertainment Accessories.   It could possibly be the sexiest remote on the planet.

Mstation Stereo Orb - Shiny and Pink

pink-mstation-ipod1.jpgM Station makes all sorts of cool gadgets and accessories, but the Orb caught my eye. It’s smooth sleekness is quite attractive on the dresser or desk, and it comes in all the Nano 2nd gen colors, including the special edition red.

It always makes me very happy to see that version, because that is the iPod I bought for my husband and a lot accessories aren’t made to match the product RED version. Pink is shown here, they also have the turquoise, green, black, white, and silver colors available.

These cute little spheres of iPod power are about 8 inches around and a great alternative to a standard iPod docking station. You can sync to iTunes, charge up, and listen in. The handy little color coordinated remote lets you skip songs, go back, and make selections from across the room. A great feature if you like to listen to music while hanging out with friends at home, or even while multitasking around your office.

“Made for iPod” Desktop Docking Station/ Speaker System packs a powerful ing Bass that only a Dedicated Subwoofer can produce. Every Orb includes a 10 Key Remote that allows you to navigate within Playlists from a distance, as well as adjust the Volume ±, Bass and Treble

Cellet Apple iphone & Blackberry 8300 Purple Noble Case

cellet.jpgI know that the hot and popular colors right now for tech and accessories are red and black, but I have a confession to make …. purple is my favorite tech color. I love it when I see a gadget or accessory that comes in purple. I don’t know what it is about the color that just makes me happy.

I saw these Cellet cases recently and thought they were cute and useful, and very happy to see that purple was a color option available. These are made to fit exact models, shapes, and sizes of phone and Blackberry. The one pictured here is made to fit Apple iphone or Blackberry 8300, both popular cell choices right now. The custom snug fit helps to better protect your phone.

HP Wireless Laser Mini Mouse

HP Wireless Laser Mini MouseLaptop mice seem to come in many shapes and sizes these days. Some are more useful than others, and some of those are definitely prettier than others. This one falls into both the useful and pretty categories and it’s from HP.

It’s shiny pink look says that you’re not the average laptop user and you don’t want to use the boring little black thing that probably came in an accessory kit with your laptop. And it’s wireless giving you a better range of motion and easier to handle point and click functions. I’ve always found the miniature mice to have short cords, so I do like a wireless mouse when I’m using a mouse with my laptop (which is not often, I’m more of a touch pad user personally.)

Crocs … for your cellphone?

cell phone holder by CrocsI saw something so odd this week that I just had to stop and think about what I was seeing. A cell phone case that looks like Crocs shoes. You know Crocs, those rubber shoes with the holes in the top that everyone is going ga-ga over, but that look really weird on everyone’s feet. Yes, those Crocs.

You can even put the little clip on rubber charms on them. I’m not really sure what the purpose of these unusual looking cases is, except to show off your obsession with the odd looking little shoes. It doesn’t really secure your phone, so it could still fall out and crash onto the pavement. I’ve also seen a few pictures of them being used to hold the larger style iPods, and I wonder the same thing. I know if I’m using a case I want it to be protective of my gadgets, and hopefully look good while doing so.

Cute and Fun Earphones MUZX

Butterfly Earphones MUZXI’m sure you’ve noticed that I love the MP3 player accessories. But, earphones and headphones aren’t just for music listening. I carry a set with my laptop for those instances where I need sound while I’m working. I don’t want to disturb everyone in the bookstore when I open a sound filled file. Earphones are great for Gameboys, DS Lites, and PSPs too.

I personally prefer the over the ear kind myself, but if you’re going with an earbud why not do it in style? These little beauties from Altec Lansing look great in your ears and sitting on your desk. Adorned with a Swarovski jeweled butterfly on each ear piece these rank pretty high on the cute-o-meter. And coming from AL I’m sure the sound quality is just as good as they are pretty.
