Aquapac MP3 Case

aquapacObviously iPods and MP3 players are widely used by runners, joggers, walkers, bicyclers and generally by people that like to stay fit. A lot of those folks do their staying fit outside. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t the most cooperative thing and we all know that electronics and water don’t go very well together.

This is where the Aquapac MP3 case comes into play. Keep your MP3 player dry and enjoy your tunes all day long. This is also great for anyone that plans to enjoy some time out on the water this spring and summer. Whether you’re out there fishing or just enjoying a beautiful day at the docks. Check the screen display or use the controls right through the clear front of the case.

Aquapac is 100% waterproof and guaranteed submersible up to 15ft, and it even keeps out dust and sand too, so enjoy your day at the beach and don’t worry about your MP3 getting ruined. It will even float to safety if you accidentally drop it in the water, (that’s just in case you’re a clutz like me!)

Zune with Love for Valentine’s Day

80 GB Red ZuneZune actually released special edition Zunes last year for Valentine’s day. I haven’t seen any thing pop up for a limited time release this year, but you can still always go for the red 80 GB Zune. It’s a no-brainer kind of gift. I don’t think I’ve ever met a person that doesn’t enjoy listening to music and/or audio books from time to time.

But, don’t just give a plain Zune, that would be boring and we’re traying to jazz things up for V-Day! Speaking of jazz, you could load it up with your favorite jazz songs! Okay, that was cheesy, but you could really load it up with a lot of your favorite songs. You significant other will appriciate the time and thought you put into their song selections.

Or if you want to go for a dramatic effect you can upload just one song to the Zune.  Make it the one special son. You know the one, and the recipient knows the one, but to everyone else it’s probably just a song. If I were giving this gift to my hubby I’d upload All of My Love by Led Zepplin. Why? Because that’s our song, silly. One song added to an MP3 player as a gift can make all the difference, especially on Valentine’s Day!

If you want to go all out on the Zune package, you can buy some great accessories to match. Include a leather case and comfortable earphones for a little extra wow factor in your gift. Whatever you decide to go with, make it from the heart. Stay tuned and subscribe to the feed for some more great Valentine’s Day gifts right here on Tech Style.

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters DLO TuneStik with Remote for iPod

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters DLO TuneStik with Remote for iPodTired of not being able to control whats on the radio? Does your car or truck have an old radio system that is not compatible with your iPod? Well solve all your problems with the TuneStik! The Digital Lifestyle Outfitters DLO TuneStik allows you to plug a small adapter into your iPod, and then broadcast your favorite music over the radio.

The iPod needs to be relatively close to the FM radio, but that’s okay. You can use the included iPod remote to control the FM-frequency being used or the playback of the iPod from up to 25 feet away. The iPod remote also includes a digital display of the current FM frequency, to show you what to tune your radio to.

Use the Digital Lifestyle Outfitters DLO TuneStik at home, or on the go! The package includes a steering-wheel cradle to easily attach the iPod remote to your steering wheel. Obviously, the FM transmitter is compatible with car radios, since it is compatible with any FM radio.

Similar to any device that you use in the car, you should focus on the road, not the device. The steering-wheel cradles makes it easier to do so, but you should still be really careful when adjusting the radio or other music options in the car. If you want to use your TuneStik while using other add-ons, you can do so.

At the bottom of the TuneStik FM transmitter, which plugs into the bottom plug of your iPod, is a pass-through iPod dock connector. This allows you to plug any other accessory into the TuneStik, and use it as if it was plugged directly into the iPod. You can use the iPod remote without using the FM transmitter, although it still has to be attached to the iPod.

This allows you to control your home stereo system, with music from your iPod, with the same device that transmits your music to your radio. The Digital Lifestyle Outfitters DLO TuneStik is a cheaper alternative to replacing older radio systems that aren’t compatible with the iPod - it goes for under $30!

What Shape is Your iPod Nano?

3rd generation ipod nanoWith the recent release of the newest iPods in all their shiny colorful glory there seems to be a bit of frustration among iPod owners and enthusiasts.  The 2nd generation design was the longest running and what most people seem to have.  Then along came the cute rounded, more square shape of the 3rd generation Nano (pictured at right) and hearts were all a flutter over this new sleek, smooth design.

So, when last week’s 4th generation iPod release was unveiled and we all saw that the shape is more rectangular like the 2nd generation again, well a lot of folks were frustrated.  If you have any kind of accessories, skins, cases, etc you’ll have to replace those to fit the new new iPod.

4th generation ipodAnd the new shape dimensions don’t exactly match the 2nd generation, but they are very close.  The front and back look more rounded than flat so that it’s sort of oval shaped going around than flat.   They’re calling this the”curved” look, and it’s supposed to improve the video viewing experience.

Don’t like the song you’re listening to or just not in the mood for that song right now?  No problem.  Just shake the new iPod and it will shuffle to a different song.   I’m hoping this feature isn’t too sensitive!  I’m not sure this is a feature I’d use in the new iPod either, but at least if I see kids walking down the street shaking the heck out of their iPod I’ll know what they’re doing.

The new accelerometer technology that comes built in and let’s you turn your iPod sideways and still view the video you’re watching is pretty cool.  Though, I’m not sure how completely useful it is, because I don’t go turning things back and forth very often.  Regardless of its level of usefulness, it is pretty cool.

I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about the new Genius Playlist feature as well.  It’s supposed to find songs that will go together harmonously and group them up and play them for you.  Now, I haven’t had a chance to test this feature out in person yet, so I can only go by what others are saying online.  It seems to be one of those things you either love and use all the time or hate and never even bother using.

The new color additions to the iPod Nano family were pleasantly received of course.  Who wouldn’t want a yellow or orange iPod after all?  And with starting prices at $149 for 8GB this generation of iPod is more affordable than it’s predecessors have been.  So, pick your favorite color and give it a try.

Active Range Sport MP3 Player With FM Tuner

Good morning, sunshine! I started Christmas shopping this week for my four boys. A big thing on my list is MP3 players.

First, a quick back story for you. My oldest two sons have iPods that we picked up as “refurbished,” basically they were as is with no warranty. I won’t make that mistake ever again. They are both pretty much dead in the water and if I send them back to Apple to get fixed they’ll charge me the cost of a new iPod, so what’s the point in repair, right?

It left me with a bit of a predicament. They really enjoyed having them while they lasted, but they were more hassle than they were worth. My husband’s iPod, which I bought straight from Apple brand new doesn’t have any problems, but these refurbished 2nd generation models just don’t cut it. They freeze, they erase themselves, and one of them refuses to be turned off, it’s just on 24 hours a day, so of course needs charged constantly.

Active Range Sport MP3 Player With FM TunerSo, my shopping spree to replace these lovely little things began. I figured I would pick up iPod shuffles to replace them. Then my 10 year old said magical words to me, “Mom, I don’t care if it’s an iPod or not, I just want music.” Dang, I love that kid.

His biggest complaint about his iPod, other than freezing screen, was that it didn’t have an FM radio to listen to. I thought about getting him just a small am/fm radio that he could stick in his backpack and listen to, but that just wouldn’t be as much fun if he couldn’t add his own music to it as well. After all, I’ve grown pretty fond of him cleaning his room and singing Kidz Bop songs on the weekends.

The Active Range Sport MP3 Player from Phillips solves a lot of that problem for me. And it comes in orange, which just happens to be Luke’s favorite color on the planet. It’s only 1GB, which is still a lot of songs. Who needs 8GB anyway? I’ll admit here that I’d like to see it be at least 2GB, because the boys do like to put audio books on their players, and the Harry Potter books are pretty big files. I don’t think those would fit onto 1GB. But, in defense of the player it does have a mini SD card slot for memory expansion, which is quite helpful.

I found the shape of this player quite intriguing, it’s round unlike the usual MP3 players that are square, rectangular, and pretty much any shape except for round. It also has a built in stop watch for those early morning runs, making it a little more sport than usual as well. So far there are some interesting features on this little wonder.

My favorite feature is still the FM tuner that’s built into the player. Digital files and a radio all in one little round piece of orange technology. However, with all this great stuff happening I found it odd that it runs on 1 AAA battery. I don’t know if that’s because of the FM tuner being part of it, or if there’s some other reason for it. I’m not sure how that all works inside, but it definitely has my attention.

Dual iPod Docks with the JVC Portable Audio System for iPod

dual ipod dock JVC Portable Audio System for iPodThe JVC NX-PN7 Dual iPod Dock accommodates two iPod players side-by side, charging them simultaneously and offering playback from each through the dock’s speakers. The perfect his and hers iPod setup. We’re always taking turns charging the iPods in our house. We actually have 4 iPods that need charging if we include the kids too.

What’s really great about this particular dual dock is that you can playback on the speakers from either iPod! This feature is great if you like to listen to music around the house without your headphones. After all who wants to walk around at home with headphones on all day? And being able to choose music from either iPod is especially nice since we all have different song selections and audio books on ours.

If you’re not in the mood to listen to your iPod, this audio system also features a AM/FM radio tuner so you can pick up your favorite local radio station and listen in that way. The easy to use remote makes it easy to change the station or the song from across the room. And on top of all the dual goodness this system has to offer you, it is iPhone compatible as well. It comes very close to being the perfect docking station.

Mstation Stereo Orb - Shiny and Pink

pink-mstation-ipod1.jpgM Station makes all sorts of cool gadgets and accessories, but the Orb caught my eye. It’s smooth sleekness is quite attractive on the dresser or desk, and it comes in all the Nano 2nd gen colors, including the special edition red.

It always makes me very happy to see that version, because that is the iPod I bought for my husband and a lot accessories aren’t made to match the product RED version. Pink is shown here, they also have the turquoise, green, black, white, and silver colors available.

These cute little spheres of iPod power are about 8 inches around and a great alternative to a standard iPod docking station. You can sync to iTunes, charge up, and listen in. The handy little color coordinated remote lets you skip songs, go back, and make selections from across the room. A great feature if you like to listen to music while hanging out with friends at home, or even while multitasking around your office.

“Made for iPod” Desktop Docking Station/ Speaker System packs a powerful ing Bass that only a Dedicated Subwoofer can produce. Every Orb includes a 10 Key Remote that allows you to navigate within Playlists from a distance, as well as adjust the Volume ±, Bass and Treble

2 GB of Tunes in a Tiny Package

2nd gen 2gb apple ipod shuffleWhen Apple released the revamped iPod Shuffle it got a little bit of buzz and that seemed to be it. I think this was a great addition to the iPod family! The Shuffle is cute, tiny, and now it’s 2GB powerful!

I was surprised to find that there are a lot of people that don’t know you now have the choice between a 1GB Shuffle and a 2GB shuffle…. and in even better news the price has gone down on both dramatically. You can pick one of the 2GB Shuffles for under $70, and you can still pick up a 1GB Shuffle for under $50! That’s a great deal on any size iPod! (Thinking back to what the Nano cost for my kids… *gasp*)

There’s no visual difference that I can see between the 1GB and the 2GB… they come in the same colors and the shape has stayed the same.  They’re still 2nd Generation iPods, not a 3rd Generation, so the only thing that has really changed is the number of tunes you can load onto them.  And of course that price drop I mentioned, my favorite Shuffle feature!

All the craze is focused on the new iPod Nano design … and while it’s cute and sleek and shows off with it’s rounded corners. The Shuffle is still the queen of compact design and functionality when you clip it on your shirt and go out the door. It might not hold 100 books on tape recordings, but 2GB of music is still a lot of music to listen to while you’re out and about, on your walk, or shopping at the mall.
