Targus Jackie Ladies Leather Tote - Checkpoint Friendly
I promised to bring some of the best checkpoint friendly laptop bags to get through the airport fast with your technology. We’ve got an entire category full of checkpoint friendly bags here at Pricegrabber now, so be sure to check that out for different sizes and styles.
Today’s pick for Sunday’s Bag is from Targus, they seem to be more on top of the checkpoint friendly than some other lines. The Jackie Ladies Leather Tote has all the style of a purse with all the function you want in a laptop bag. It’s easy to carry and has a padded compartment for your notebook computer.
This little leather bag will hold up to a 15 inch widescreen laptop. Next weekend I’ll seek out something checkpoint friendly and pretty for those of you with the big 17 inchers out there. And then after that I think we’ll look into some cool bags for the new mini style notebook computers. If you have a special technology carrying need that you’re having difficulty filling leave me a comment and see what I can find for you.
I know it can be hard to find just the right bag to carry your stuff in. I remember when I first got my laptop, it seems like forever ago, and they had just started making the widescreen more common. I had a heck of a time finding one that my laptop fit into. In fact, it came with a free black leather laptop bag packaged with it …. and it was too small, because it was designed for a regular width screen. It was miserable that first few weeks to have my notebook and not be able to take it anywhere because I didn’t have a proper bag for it!

Dakine Eve Girl’s Laptop Backpack
I think I may have found new love for the backpack style laptop bags. This particular laptop bag is from Dakine, and when they make a bag they really make a bag. Not only does this bag look great, it is full of function.
The Dakine Eve Laptop Bag features wide sturdy straps and plenty of room for all your tech. You can carry your laptop, your camera, and put your cell phone or BlackBerry in the hidden but easy to reach cell phone pocket at the top of the bag. There’s plenty of space left over for all your chargers, adapters, headphones, and cords. And the insulated cooler pocket is great for packing a mid-afternoon snack and a side pocket for a nice cold bottle of water.
* Contoured shoulder strap designed specifically to fit girl’s frame
* Padded laptop sleeve
* Fleece lined sunglasses pocket
* Cellphone, MP3 and organizer pockets
* Insulated cooler pocket
* Side water bottle pockets
* Max Laptop Size: 15″ x 11″ x 1.5″
This laptop bag may just replace every bag I own. It will hold everything that is currently in my purse, laptop bag, and camera bag all in one easy to carry bag that looks fabulous. Hey, get your own.

Is Your Laptop Bag Travel Friendly?
I’m getting ready to go on a trip with my kids, and one of the things I needed was a new laptop bag. Fortunately, we’re traveling by train and not plane for this particular trip. I forgot all about the airlines checking laptop bags more and more and my new bag isn’t exactly as air travel friendly as it could be.
The good news is that later this month travelers will get a little bit of relief as the airlines try to make things easier for laptop carriers. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has released guidelines for checkpoint friendly bags, and manufacturers have responded with some great results! Expect to see some of these new bag designs in future Sunday’s Bag posts, of course.
TSA said some current bags on the market meet its criteria, particularly sleeve-like carrying cases without pockets or zippers. Some new products meeting their specific checkpoint criteria will be available by the middle of the month, the agency has said.
You can get a laptop carrying sleeve just about anywhere, and in a huge variety of colors and styles. Unfortunately, they don’t have any pockets for other things and are usually intended as an added line of protection for your laptop to be placed inside of another bag.
Even with a bag that meets the TSA’s guidelines, however, nothing is guaranteed. At the bottom of an informational page on the TSA site, it reveals the fine print: “Given TSA’s use of random screening protocols, TSA reserves the right to re-screen any bag or laptop regardless of the design of the bag.”

Belkin Messenger Bag Laptop Bag
Another classically styled messenger bag on our never ending shopping trip for great bags. Belkin makes messenger style laptop bags in a lot of size and color combinations, but here I’ve pictured the 15.4″ in Brown and Blue.
I love this color combination since it matches just about everything. It manages to be neutral without being boring. And what’s even better about this bag is you have all the comfort of a lightweight laptop carrying bag with the features and capacity of a much bulkier bag. There’s plenty of places to store your tech away with your laptop.
This bag was designed to help you stay organized and get all your gadgets there in one piece safely. There’s room and pockets for MP3 players, cell phones, business cards, pens, and all your other accessories. And a separate pouch tucks away your power adapter and cables for later use.
If all the features of this bag don’t have you convinced yet, the bag is also supported by Belkin’s Lifetime Warranty.

Verge Messenger Bag in Red

I’ve already mentioned my love of interesting bags, especially laptop bags. It’s funny to people that have known me a long time, because they know I have always hated to carry a purse. In fact, in high school I carried a lunch box instead of a normal purse, because I was so anti-purse, but still needed something other than my backpack to put stuff in. For the record it was much easier to toss a paperback book into a lunchbox, the pages didn’t get all smooshed and messed up.
Anyhow, time to get to the point. I was thinking about topics and things that I would like to write about here at TechStyle. I decided that on Sundays, starting today of course, I would feature an interesting bag that’s designed to carry your tech. And for these first few I’m actually sort of shopping around, I need a new laptop bag myself before I go on a trip next month.
Today’s featured bag is a messenger style bag by Verge.
“This durable messenger bag features five interior storage pockets with zipper and velcro closures. It also has a rear pocket and adjustable shoulder strap to provide extra comfort. The dual buckles secure your notebook and other valuables. This case fits most notebooks with screens up to 15″.”
I love the messenger style laptop bags. It’s always nice to have a bag that you can actually sling over your shoulder and keep a hand free. And red of course is a popular tech color right now, so your bag might just match your cellphone, your blackberry, your bluetooth, or if you’re lucky your laptop (or laptop skin.)
I’ll be back again next weekend with a cool bag for you to carry your tech around town in. ![]()

No Boring Black Laptop Bags Here
Laptops are becoming more and more the norm for people to have. Being able to take your computer with you does have it’s benefits. But, who wants to carry that boring standard black bag that often comes along with a “package” deal. I know I sure don’t. There are truly a lot of different laptop bag styles out there. I was honestly surprised how many when I started looking for one.
Messenger style laptop bags seem to be very popular right now, and there are a lot of those to choose from. (Gift buying tip: If mom carries a laptop to and from work these might make for a nice Mother’s Day gift too!) Messenger style bags generally feature a long shoulder strap to throw over your shoulder and go, like a bike messenger would of course. They range in style from sporty, to leather, to canvas. There’s a messenger style bag out there with your name on it somewhere. This one is my favorite at the moment.
Some laptop bags don’t even look like laptop bags! This striped canvas bag from Mango Tango is very purse like in style and has fun, bold use of color on it. It includes an outside pocket for tickets, passport holders and paperwork, a zippered inside pocket, as well as a cell phone, pen and business card holder. So carrying this lovely bag you might not even need an additional purse, everything fits!
